The Mediating Role of Flexible Workplace Policies on Employees’ Health and Well-Being

Flexible work policies and programs can have beneficial or detrimental effects on the workplace and on workers. Researchers working on this project conducted an extensive systematic review of research related to flexible workplace policies and how these policies and options affected employee mental health and well-being. Online Screening and Early Intervention to Prevent Suicide among Middle-Aged Men

Healthy Men Michigan was a state-wide public health campaign designed to engage working-age men throughout Michigan in online screening and referrals for suicide prevention and invite them to participate in a randomized control trial to test Man Therapy (www.mantherapy.org). Man Therapy was compared to the use of a basic online depression screening and referral website. This project was the first randomized control trial testing the effectiveness of Man Therapy to prevent suicide for working-aged men. (PI: Jodi Frey)

Developing and Testing a Brief Intervention for Problem Gambling in Credit Counseling

Problem gambling is a stigmatized problem that is often not adequately assessed and can contribute to significant financial distress and negative outcomes. This randomized control trial is testing the effectiveness of a unique brief intervention using motivational techniques and text messaging for individuals at-risk for problem gambling. The intervention is designed to help reduce gambling behavior and improve financial well-being among credit counseling clients who seek services within a national financial counseling organization, Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Maryland (CCCSMD). Man Therapy Evaluation in Washington County, Rhode Island

The purpose of this study is to test a male-oriented, online program, Man Therapy, to improve mental health help-seeking related to depression and suicide among working-aged men living in Washington County, Rhode Island. The research team will evaluate user’s experience about using the Man Therapy website and determine if engagement on the Man Therapy website helps reduce depression and suicide symptoms, reduce mental health stigma, and increase intent and actual engagement in local health and mental health services.
